AB1 Blog: Difficult Times

I can certainly say that this past month has been one I have never ever experienced or thought I would see. February ended in an exceptional way for me by making my AC Milan debut. The month started by having our matches against Genoa and Juventus postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We then were made to play a game behind closed doors against Genoa at the San Siro and that was a bittersweet day. With all of the chaos and strange feeling about playing the game in an empty stadium, I was able to make my 400th professional appearance which was a very proud moment.

A couple of days after that game, we were shut down. The city went from being relatively active to nothing. It was crazy how things went into shutdown so quickly. I was able to come home and have been home ever since with my family.

The last couple of weeks have been crazy for all of us. As you probably experienced on your skin, life in isolation is not easy for any of us, but the important thing is to stay home as much as possible. It always helps to reshuffle your energy into different things and think positive. I have been away from home for the majority of the last six months, playing in Azerbaijan and Italy, and it is at least nice to spend more time with my family. Plus I have been able to look at other things, really been active with my podcast the Season of Sports, and I have been reading a lot. I am reading the book on Tiger Woods by Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian, fascinating!

It’s been a crazy time for all of us, but now is the time for all of us to come together, really look into this and come out of this whole thing as a better world and society. Please stay safe, follow the guidelines out there and we will get through it!
