29-year old Giannis has started his professional career with Panionios in his homeland Greece. He was promoted to the first team in 2010 and made his first league appearance three years later against Olympiakos. Good performances for Panionis earned him a move to one of the Greek powerhouses AEK, where he stayed for four years. At that time AEK won the Superleague title and the domestic cup and with his performances in Europa League, Giannis earned himself a call up for the Greek national team.
After a brief spell in Israel, Giannis moved to Sweden and in 2018 he signed a contract with Swedish giants IFK Göteborg. In last two season, he has been a first-choice keeper for the Gothenburg side and he renew his contract with the club until 31 December 2021.
This also means that goalkeepers from three most decorated clubs in Sweden – Malmö FF, AIK Stockholm and IFK Göteborg – will be wearing our gloves next season.
