We do love international break, but it was good to have club football back and a weekend packed with action. Asmir Begović and his AFC Bournemouth are in great form. This time they hosted league leaders Reading at Vitality Stadium in what turned out to be probably the best game of the season.
The visitors took an early lead in the fourth minute through Lucas Joao penalty and doubled it two minutes before half time. It looked like things are slipping out of hands for the Cherries, but they turned around it in the second half. Four goals scored, with some brilliant saves from Asmir on the other side of the pitch, pushed Bournemouth to the win and secured the second place on the table.
Ryan Allsop was a man of the match for his Wycombe Wanderers in the goalless draw with Brentford at home. Two wins and a draw in last four matches brought back hopes that Wycombe could fight until the end to avoid relegation this season.
Blackpool, with Chris Maxwell between the sticks, continued their winning streak. After two wins in the league, two in cups (FA and EFL Trophy), the Tangerines defeated the League One leaders Peterborough United 2-1 away from home.
Marko Johansson and Malmo were on the visit to the Swedish capital Stockholm where they drew 2-2 with Hammarby on Tele2 Arena. In the same time, AIK with Budimir Janošević at the goal hosted Orebro in Solna and lost 2-0.
Hamilton Academical was on the difficult away trip to Dundee United this weekend where they lost 2-1. The Accies had 1-0 lead after 65 minutes but conceded twice between 76th and 80th minute. However, they had a chance to capture a point but missed a late penalty.
Virtus Entella had another crazy match in Serie B this weekend. Daniele Borra was on the goal on their visit to Ascoli, where the hosts went to 9 men after 70 minutes. Matteo Mancosu converted a penalty, and it looked like Entella was on their way to the first win of the season, but then with six minutes to go Ascoli scored and won an important point.
