Weekend round up

What a fantastic weekend packed with action for AB1GK family.

Asmir Begović was first on the pitch on Friday night, and what a great night that was. It was his 300th English League appearance and the big man decided to celebrate it in a great fashion. His AFC Bournemouth side cruised past Barnsley away from home (4-0), with Asmir being on top of his game. He made some crucial saves and deserved a place in this week’s team of the week.

For the fourth time in last five matches Wycombe Wanderers won a point, but this time Ryan Alsop and his teammates were closer to the full catch. They conceded to Preston North End after 14 minutes but managed to overturn the result in the second half thanks to McCleary and Kashket goals. However, just three minutes before the final whistle the hosts equalised through unlucky own goal by Jason McCarthy.

It was all about celebration in Malmö, where they closed the curtains on Allsvenskan 2020 season. MFF defeated Ostersund 4-0 at home, where our own Marko Johansson kept his sheet clean once again. This is the first league title for 22-year old Swede, and we are proud that he has been an important part of AB1GK family.

Budimir Janošević and his AIK ended their season with another draw – they played 2-2 with Elfsborg in Borås.

Chris Maxwell once again captained his Blackpool this weekend. They went to visit Fleetwood Town’s Highbury and ended up winning 1-0. Jay Lynch was between sticks as well, but Rochdale lost at home to Lincoln City (2-0). After almost nine months spectators were allowed back inside the EnviroVent Stadium in Harrogate, but Town with James Belshaw between sticks lost 1-0 to high-flying Forest Green.

Daniele Borra’s Virtus Entella is still the only Seria B side with no win under their belt. This weekend they visited Cremonese, only to concede twice in the early stage of the game and lose 2-1.
