Weekend round up

 

Asmir Begović and his AFC Bournemouth knew that a win over Coventry City would be enough to take them back into the Championship play-off places, and they produced another top-quality performance resulting in commanding 4-1 victory. Arnaut Danjuma scored twice, David Brooks and Dominic Solanke were also on target, and Asmir had another good game as the Cherries picked up their fourth league win in a row.

In League One, Chris Maxwell and his Blackpool team dropped a two-goal lead at play-off rivals Lincoln City. The Seasiders were a better team for most of the game, wasting several chances to put the game beyond the hosts, but in the second half squandered a 2-0 lead to end up drawing the game 2-2.

In League 2 and despite a fantastic performance from James Belshaw in Harrogate Town’s goal, Two goals in the second half for Bolton Wanderers completed a hard earned 2-1 victory for the home side.

In Italian Serie A, Vanja Milinković-Savić started his third game of the season for Torino, Unfortunately, a penalty conversion from Andrea Belotti earned Udinese all three points.

Il Toro got their important win this weekend, while their Australian namesake in Macarthur FC with Adam Federici in goal failed to beat Perth Glory in the A-League (1-2).

The defending champions Malmo FC opened the new Allsvenskan season with a home win over Hammarby. Oliver Dovin was on the bench for the visitors, but with Marko Johansson in goal for Malmo they ground out a hard earned 3-2 victory.

 

Budimir Janošević’s AIK Stockholm open their season today, while IFK Gothenburg ended their first game at Orebro with a goalless draw, primarily thanks to an excellent clean sheet for Giannis Anestis .
