Weekend round up

Asmir Begović’s outstanding performances this season have been recognized by the EFL, who named the Bosnian the best goalkeeper of the season in the Sky Bet Championship. This weekend Asmir captained his AFC Bournemouth at Adams Park, but the Cherries fell behind conceding an early goal to Wycombe Wanderers after just four minutes as the home team managed to hold on to the lead for the remainder of the game..

Nigel Pearson gave Max O’Leary his third start of the season for Bristol City. Still, the Robins lost to Millwall 4-1 at The Den. Blackpool with Chris Maxwell in goal took a huge stride into the League One play-offs with two matches remaining, running out comfortable 3-0 winners at Northampton Town. Jay Lynch’s Rochdale lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers and are unfortunately relegated to League 2

In League Two, Joe Murphy was in action for Tranmere Rovers, who fell to a 2-1 defeat at Forest Green Rovers, but the Prenton Park outfit look certain to make the League 2 Play offs.

In Australia, Adam Federici was the man of the match in Macarthur FC’s goalless draw at Perth Glory.

Torino with Vanja Milinković-Savić on the bench managed a 1-0 home victory against Palma,  but Daniele Borra played for his Virtus Entella this weekend when they lost 2-1 at home to Vicenza .

 

Marko Marić had a difficult task to stop Los Angeles FC in the MLS, and his Houston Dynamo team managed an important point in a 1-1 draw.

In the Allsvenskan IFK, Gothenburg and Giannis Anestis dropped two points in a 1-1 draw away to Halmstad, and  August Stromberg’s Varbergs BoIS surprised Ostersund with a 2-1 away victory, while Budimir Janošević and AIK kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 home victory against Elfsborg.
