This was an eventful international break for AB1GK family. Asmir Begović returned to the Bosnian national team and after they drew with Italy in Florence (1-1) he had the honour to captain his country in 2-1 loss to Poland. Bosnia is in a difficult Nations League’s group, together with Italy, Poland and the Netherlands, but the Dragons are focused on their EURO 2021 play-off match vs Northern Ireland next month.
In Division 4 Gibraltar hosted San Marino in the clash of minors. Dayle Coleing kept the clean sheet and helped his team reach the first win in 2020, making their chances to advance to the upper echelons of Nations league much better.
Ryan Allsop was in the action this weekend as well. His Wycombe Wanderers opened the season visiting Brentford’s Griffin Park in the EFL Cup. The hosts advanced to the next round after penalties – it ended 1-1 in the regular time, but Brentford was luckier from the spot and won 4-2.
This weekend was reserved for one of the biggest charity events in the world of football – SoccerAid 2020. The yearly charity football match includes a mix of football stars and celebrities, and this year was no different. Former England international David James proudly wore his AB1 Impact Uno while starting for England XI.
Donations sent in during the Soccer Aid match raised a record £11m for the charity Unicef!
It’s the most the game has ever generated in the history of the show and this year the money raised will be spent to help children affected by coronavirus.
Well done everyone!
