Hello, I’m Shannon Lynn.
I am a goalkeeper for the Scotland Women’s National Team and Vittsjö GIK in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan.
Back in July our starting goalkeeper got a season ending injury which has since given me a good run of games. She is a great friend of mine and has been the most incredible support. I am very grateful for that. As you know, the GK Union is special – we support each other through everything.
Although I am experienced, it still took me some time to find my confidence again. It has been really good for me to get the consistency of game time.
September 10th was World Suicide Prevention Day, where I joined in on the conversation on behalf of @TWLOHA (To Write Love On Her Arms), a suicide prevention and mental health awareness organisation. They are one of the many organisations doing selfless work in raising funds, helping to give people the trust to ask for help, and continuing to educate us on this very important subject.
September has been a good month for my team and I. We are currently on a 5 game winning streak with two of those wins coming this month.
There was a break in the league due to International fixtures. Scotland’s scheduled games for this month were postponed until February 2021 so I have been in Sweden continuing to train with Vittsjö.
We were given the weekend off during the international window. I can’t remember the last time I had 3 days off in a row during season. It was really nice to unwind and rest the body and mind.. But then, I was buzzing to get back on the pitch!
After the weekend off, we were back in to prepare for our game on the 27th.
We ended up with a 1-1 draw against Djurgården – We felt we should have won the game but we must still take the positives from getting the point!
Now we will look forward and onto the next one, with six games left in the league!
In my opinion, Asmir and Ab1 Goalkeeping have one of the best goalkeeping brands in the business. Not only do they have top of the line gloves but they are also really great people. I am incredibly proud to wear their gloves.
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
I hope you are all following the important guidelines in place and continuing to stay safe.
Take care.
