Max O’Leary was one of the Bristol City heroes in their FA Cup upset away at Millwall. Goals from Famara Diédhiou, Nahki Wells, and Antoine Semenyo fired City past the Lions, but Max played a key role in collecting as much as seven saves in this match.
“I had a bit to do, but the boys played well, and I thought we stuck together all the way to the end. Now it should be a good game against Sheffield United”, O’Leary told Robins TV, the club’s TV station.
“We moved the ball well at times, and we had to mix it up at times. We went long, got the second balls, but we also tried to play. The pitch was cut up a bit, so it was harder to do that, but overall it was a good all-round performance”.
Matt Urwin and his Chorley once again impressed with their cup performance. However, their record-breaking run in the Cup came to an end after 1-0 loss to Premier League side Wolverhampton. The game’s only goal came after 12 minutes, when Vitinha hit a thunderbolt, leaving Matt helpless in the Magpies’ net. Still, this was the best cup run in the club’s history. Urwin and the rest of the boys have something to be proud of.
In their visit to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, Chris Maxwell captained Blackpool, where they lost 2-1 and ended their cup run.
In League One action Hull City was outstanding at Fratton Park, where they trashed their promotion rivals Portsmouth. George Long kept his sheet clean, and 4-0 win was more than enough to sit on the top of the league table with 45 points.
James Belshaw and Harrogate Town earned a crucial point at the Peninsula Stadium. Salford had taken the lead twice, but a goal in dying minutes secured 2-2 draw for the visitors. A late corner was floated to the back post, where Belshaw – who joined his teammates in the box – reacted well and assisted Ed Francis who scored an equaliser.
