Weekend round up

Asmir Begović’s AFC Bournemouth slipped to seventh place in the table after they shared the points with Preston North End following a 1-1 draw at Deepdale. The Cherries took the lead in the first half and were in control for most of the game, but the hosts hit back through Daniel Johnson 20 minutes from time.

Stoke City recorded a comfortable home win over bottom side Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. This was the 6th clean sheet in 13 games for Angus Gunn, who was once again on the goal for the Potters.

In League One action this week, Chris Maxwell’s Blackpool drew 1-1 at home with AFC Wimbledon, and in League Two, James Belshaw’s Harrogate Town lost 1-0 away to Stevenage.

Ryan Fulton kept a clean sheet to earn his Hamilton Academical side a well-deserved draw and move off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.

Atletico Madrid bounced back after an unlucky loss to Chelsea in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16. Hedvig Lindahl and the girls cruised past Real Betis 4-0 and recorded their 12th victory of the season. This is a big week ahead for Atletico – they are hosting Chelsea in the 2nd leg of the Champions League on Wednesday and play Madrid derby on Sunday.

AIK and Budimir Janošević are out of the Swedish cup after losing the Stockholm derby with Hammarby this weekend. Giannis Anestis was in goal for IFK Gothenburg in their 1-1 draw at Norrkoping, but one point was not enough to qualify for the quarterfinals. After two losses, Malmo FF lost all chance to advance to the next round, but with Marko Johansson on the goal, they defeated Halmstad 4-1 in the group stage’s last game.

In Thai League 1, True Bangkok United and Michael Falkesgaard were on an away trip to Port FC, where they earned a valuable point after a 2-2 draw.
